Year 8 and 9 girls play 'Braziliantly' at Coleraine 7s tourney

Year 9 girls jump for joy at Coleraine 7s tournament

Mrs 'Play 9 in defence' McAleece and Mr 'Play 9 up front' Charles chaperoned our young year 8 and 9 girls football starlets to the Coleraine 7s tournament on Monday (16th June). Although both team didn't quite make it to the final, they hopefully got the 'buzz' you feel when playing in any kind of tournament.

By all accounts the year 8 team played some fantastic attacking football with Ellen Bates top-scoring with 4 goals and in the process, winning the team's "Golden Boot" award. This was their first competitive outing but similar to the English football team, acquitted themselves well but went out in the quarters. Well done girls!

The year 9s also played very well with some outstanding performances from Bethany Wallace who played on despite staving 4 fingers and a thumb- how did she manage that!

With the World Cup serving as the perfect backdrop for this 7's tournament, the girls will now be in a better position to provide a more insightful commentary on games in the coming weeks- parents and in particular dads beware!

Well done to all again!
