The purpose of the Student Council at Magherafelt High is to give students a voice. It provides a forum where students can discuss issues that affect them. The members of the Student Council were democratically elected by their peers.

The Student Council is made up of pupils from Years 8-12. Pupils have the opportunity to bring their ideas and concerns to the Council through their class and year representatives. The Student Council meets every two weeks.

The aims of the Student Council

•  To allow staff and students to work in partnership
•  To allow the students to be heard and their ideas shared, in the hope of greater whole school achievement
•  To give students confidence and empower them to become more active citizens.
