Habitat for Humaity Team (2009) | ||||
(Back: Left-to-right- Nicky Brown, Daniel Kelso, Nathan Morrow As our Charity Organisation this year, we are joining with St Mary’s Grammar to support Habitat for Humanity. Habitat is a non-denominational Christian housing ministry which seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness around the world. Through volunteer labour and donations of money, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses. In June 2010 six of our senior students and six of St Mary’s senior students along with two teachers from each school will go to Guatemala in South America, to help build houses in the local community. Throughout the world, the cost of houses vary – the average cost of a house in the developing world is £1,253. As you can appreciate this is a great expense. Our costs have been estimated at £1,800 - £2,000 per volunteer. Our volunteers Teachers Sponsorship by local businesses: R. A. Cuddy
