10 young enthusiasts took part in 2010 Dairy Council Cookery Competition.
The ‘cook off’ was held on Tuesday 2nd February in Magherafelt High School (many thanks to Mrs McGrath for the use of her class room)
The following pupils should all be proud of their efforts:
Charlotte Cahoon
Helen Blair
Johann Rainey
Claire Rainey
Catherine Irvine
Shannon Ross
Suzzana Sarkoziova
Kathryn Bolton
Helen Forsythe
Sara Davison
Miss Alexander has to admit that the standard exceeded her expectations. Mr Elder, Mrs Forde, Mrs Averill, Mrs McGrath and Mr Freeburn were also somewhat impressed. Some of whom managed a handy lunch!
All 10 pupils will be entered into the competition – providing they submit their written work by Thursday 18th February!
Then it will be up to The Dairy Council to judge all the entries from the NEELB and select a candidate to progress through to the finals. Miss Alexander is proud of everybody who took part regardless if anyone is selected or not!
A prize will be given to the best entry from Magherafelt High School – this will probably take place during assembly some day! The winning entrant will not be decided until written work is marked!
Some of the competitors are regular cookery clubbers, others just turned up on the day and impressed! This proves that Magherafelt High has got Talent in more ways than one!
Have a browse through the photographs to see for yourself the standard set. Also notice how much fun the girls had! It was a busy day but very worthwhile despite the fact that the girls had to listen to Miss Alexander repeating herself over and over and over and over again about DISHES.
Meanwhile, Year 8 hopefully Tuesday 2nd March will see the beginning of your Cookery club. Some of the ‘experienced’ cookery clubbers have offered to help out so let’s hope you thoroughly enjoy the cookery and develop lots of new skills. Remember boys – we need your help!!
You need to keep your eye on the web/notices though – so that you know what we are cooking and when.
Button Cookies are the first on the menu for the 2nd March. All you have to bring is £1 and a packet of buttons!
