THE CHALLENGE:
The Fun Run starts at Belfast City Hall at 9.30am and ends in Ormeau Park. It is about 2.5 miles. The Fun Run is a non-competitive event and it does not matter if you run, jog or walk – it is the taking part that counts. You will enjoy the atmosphere and meet other people who are all taking part to raise money for various charities.
We are raising money for Habitat. Sponsor forms are now available. If you need more copies please see Miss Alexander. There will be a prize for the entrant from Magherafelt High School who raises the most money!! A certain Year 8 pupil has already completed one sponsor form and has the £’s rolling in! So everyone else – you better get started!

There will be further meetings prior to the event in order to finalise arrangements. Hopefully we will all go in a bus from Magherafelt High School at about 7.30am on Monday 3rd May. We should be back early afternoon! (it depends how fast you run and whether or not you wish to shop afterwards!)
It does not matter what you wear for the Fun Run. Depending upon the weather, you can wear base layers, shorts, leggings, track-suit bottoms, hats etc. just make sure you have a comfy pair of trainers!! Please bring a change of clothes and a warm top especially if it is wet!
In the meantime a lot of training is not really necessary – however a 2 mile jog once a week would be a good idea. If this sounds scary; begin by doing 2 mile jog-walks. This means you walk for a few minutes then jog for a few minutes. Each time you go out try to increase the distance you jog. Just think how fit you will be come May! If you are worried speak to me and I can organise a session at Meadowbank for training.
More importantly start getting your sponsorship form filled up. We want to raise lots and lots of money for Habitat. Do not leave it until the last minute! Remember to keep note of who has sponsored you and for how much. Come to Miss Alexander any time if you need a new sponsor sheet!
