Happy New Year for Magherafelt High School | ||||||||||||||||||

| After several months of delays and one too many false dawns, Magherafelt High School staff and students were finally able to celebrate when the newly-appointed building contractors, Heron Brothers (Draperstown) moved on site to commence work on the new building. The old school building is due to be demolished around the end of 2011 by which stage the new, state-of-the-art school building will be open for all to admire. | |||||||||||||||||||

Mr McCluskey in an interview with the Mid-Ulster Mail was clearly delighted with the news, saying; “We can now look forward to the state-of-the-art facilities which will be provided for the benefit of the children, parents and of the whole community in the Magherafelt district." He continued “It’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the history of the school and we are very grateful to all those who have played a part in getting things under way.” (Source: Mid Ulster Mail)

The new school will boast state-of-art teaching and learning facilities as well as first-class sports facilities which can only strengthen the already excellent education students receive from a very dedicated staff at the High School. Staff and students are now looking forward to a very prosperous new year and many years to come!
