HSBC Eco-Schools Climate Initiative Eco-Code competition

Eco Club

Fancy entering a national competition to win £200 for your school and then being entered into an international competition with the possibility of winning a further $1000 for your school?  Eco-Schools in England is part of a larger project on Climate Change with fifteen other International Eco-Schools countries and HSBC.

To celebrate the end of the second year of the project we are launching a poster competition the winners of which will be entered into an international competition alongside the winners of the fifteen other countries.

The posters should be of a colourful and imaginative design demonstrating your schools commitment to Climate Change through the use of an Eco-Code. Pictures and text are allowed but please do not include any corporate logos.  All posters need to be hand drawn.  For further information please visit http://www.eco-schools-hsbc.org/

Last year we had superb winning entries from Lily Hepburn of Hitherfield Primary School and Elena Basri of Hounsdown School – to see last years winners click here.  If you would like to take a look at the winning entries from the international competition please check out our competition page.

If you are planning on heading to our Eco-Schools Show this year at Bolton Arena you will also have the chance to enter the competition whilst visiting.  Check out the activity zone and you should find poster making materials there along with some of our HSBC volunteers.

What do you have to do to take part.....?   It’s easy follow the simple steps below

1. If you have not already done so please register your school on the HSBC Eco-Schools Climate Initiative website at: http://www.eco-schools-hsbc.org/   (terms and conditions for the competition can also be found here)
2. Hold your own competition in school and choose your winning entry.
3. Decide in school what you would spend the £200 national prize money on – write down your ideas in no more than 200 words.
4. Your winning poster needs to come to us on a single sheet of A2 paper but we recommend that you don’t use paper that size for your own internal competition! Try scrap or A4 paper and then draw your winning entry on to A2.
5. Send us your winning entry and prize money spending allocation – please tell us which age category you would like to be entered into!   There are two age categories ages 5 – 12 and 13 – 18, submit this along with the name of the artist and name of the school.
6. Closing date for the competition is Friday 24th June 2011; any entries received after then will not be considered.
7. We will announce the National winner towards the end of June and the international winner will be announced at a later date.

Please note that one of the requirements of the competition is that all entries are hand drawn.
