YEAR 10 AMAZING BRAINS - GIRLS ON THE BALL EVENT @ ULSTER UNIVERSITY, JORDANSTOWN

The Year 10 girls visited University of Ulster Jordanstown for a “Girls on the Ball” careers event on Thursday 4th June 2015.

They had the opportunity to meet and speak to several influential female role models such as;

 

Dr Katie Liston – Senior Lecturer at the School of Sport

Sara Booth – Women’s Domestic Football Manager, Irish Football Association

Denise Watson – Sports Journalist

Susan O’Neill - Chairperson of Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association

Danielle McDowell – Current International Footballer and Self Employed Football Coach

Emily Shaw – UEFA Women’s Football Development Manager

OonaghO’Reilly – Director of Marketing at the Irish Football Association

Amber Dempster- PE Student Teacher

Julianne Larkin – Sport Nutritionist

Dr Laura McLaughlin – Team Doctor

 

The event allowed the girls to meet and speak to several ladies who had made a career in the male dominated area of Sport and to investigate the different avenues and experiences that lead them to the roles they have now achieved.

 

They were also given a guided tour of the facilities at Jordanstown and given motivational talks to encourage them to pursue the career of their choice through hard work and a positive attitude.
